Colour C - black

With Colour A, ch 8, join to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch3(counts as a dc), 15dc in ring: 16dc; join in 3^rd ch of beg ch-3. Do not turn, work in rnds.

Rnd 2: Sl st between ch-3 and next dc, ch5 (counts as a dc & ch3); (dc bet next 2dc, ch2) 15 times; join in 3^rd ch of beg ch-5: 16 ch-2 sps.

Rnd 3: Sl st in next ch-2 sp, ch3, 2dc in same sp, ch1; (3dc in next ch-2 sp, ch1) 15 times; join in 3^rd ch of beg ch-3: 16 ch-1 sps; finish off Colour A.

Rnd 4: Join Colour B in any ch-1 sp; (ch3, sc in next ch-1 sp) 3 times; ch5, sc in next ch-1 sp; rep from 3 times more, ending last rep without working last sc; join in beg sl st: 4 corners with 3 ch-3 sps bet.

Rnd 5: Sl st in next ch-3 sp; ch3, 2dc in same sp; (3dc in next ch-3 sp) twice more; * in next ch-5 corner sp work (3dc, ch2, 3dc); (3dc in next ch-3 sp) 3 times; rep from * twice more; in next ch-5 corner sp work (3dc, ch2, 3dc); join in 3^rd ch of beg ch-3, finish off Colour B.

Rnd 6: Join Colour C in any ch-2 corner sp; ch 3, in same sp work (trc, dc); *(dc bet next 2dc) 14 times; in next ch-2 corner sp work (dc, trc, dc); rep from * 3 times more, ending last rep without working last (dc, trc, dc); join in 3^rd ch of beg ch-3; finish off Colour C & weave in ends.

Hold square with right side facing you, join Colour A with a sl st in trc of any corner.

Rnd 1: Ch3 (counts as dc in this & following rnds), in same trc work (trc, dc); *dc in next 16 dc; in next rc, work (dc, trc, dc); rep from * 3 times more, ending last rep without working last (dc, trc, dc); join in 3^rd ch of beg ch-3; finish off.

Rnd 2: Join Colour B in trc of any corner; ch3, in same trc work (trc, dc); *dc in next 18 dc, in next trc work (dc, trc, dc); rep from * 3 times more, ending last rep without working last (dc, trc, dc); join in 3^rd ch of beg ch-3; finish off.

Rnd 3: Join Colour C in trc of any corner, ch3, in same trc work (trc, dc); *dc in next 20 dc, in next trc work (dc, trc, dc); rep from * 3 times more, ending last rep without working last (dc, trc, dc); join as before.

Rnd 4: Sl st in next trc; ch3, 4dc in same trc as joining; *sk next 2dc, sl st in next dc, sk next 2dc, 5dc in next dc; rep from * around potholder; adjusting slightly so that a 5-dc group is worked in trc of each rem outer corner & pattern ends evenly. Finish off & weave in ends.
