I/9 crochet hook

Note: use two strands of yarn held together. Do not join, unless otherwise instructed.

Rnd 1: ch2, 4sc in 2nd ch from hk. (4sc).

Rnd 2: 2sc in ea sc (8sc)

Rnd 3: 2sc in ea sc (16sc)

Rnd 4: 2sc in ea sc (32sc)

Rnd 5: *sc in next 3sc, 2sc in next sc, rep from * around (40sc)

Rnd 6: sc in ea sc (40, join with sl st to next sc

Rnd 7: wrking in bl only for this rnd, ch1, hdc in ea sc around (40sc)

Rnd 8-10: ch2 (sk next st, dc in next sc, inserting hk from behind, wrk dc in sk st: Crossed dc wrked), wrk crossed st around, join to top of first crossed dc (20 crossed sts)

Rnd 11: ch1, *hdc, ch1, sk next st; rep from * around, join to top of beg hdc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 1: ch2, 4sc in 2nd ch from hk (4sc)

Rnd 2: 2sc in ea sc (8sc)

Rnd 3: *sc in next 2 sc, 2sc in next sc; rep from * around (16sc)

Rnd 4: 2sc in ea sc (32sc)

Rnd 5: sc in ea sc (32sc)

Rnd 6: ch2, crossed st around (16 crossed st)

Rnd 7: ch1, wrk in bl only, sc in ea st around. Finish off and weave in ends.

Make a 3" tassel, attach to top of lid.

To make tassel, use a 3" long piece of cardboard, wind yarn 12 times around, slide a 6" piece of yarn under yarn at top of cardboard and tie tightly with know, carefully slide yarn off cardboard. Tie a second piece of yarn 1" from top. Cut yarn at bottom.

Lid sits slightly inside box.
